How do I get wireless internet in my house?

We have cable internet. I recently got a laptop and wanted to get internet through it. I have seen routers in stores. Is that all I need?

The main computer in which you want the router to be next to, will have to be connected to a wireless Internet router. The computer in which you want to have the wireless Internet will need a wireless Internet card, either internal entirely, or with an antenna (generally laptops use internal cards, so that there is no antenna sticking out of the back of the laptop). There are also USB adapters which connect into a USB outlet on your computer to connect to the Internet, although internal or antenna cards are best. The card and the router do have to match in type, as there are various different types of routers. To find out which one you need, your Internet Service Provider should be able to help you – they should be able to walk you through configuring it as well. Configuring doesn’t take very long, but it can differ depending on your Internet Service Provider.

You need a WIRELESS router (or a wireless access point, if your modem is also a router). That, and a few minutes of time to set things up is all you need.

Essentially, yes. The key router features to look for are DHCP, and a built-in security feature. The factory defaults of the router will allow for a quick setup, please read and follow the literature accompanying the router, the ‘Quick Start Guide’ will have you networking in a short time. Enjoy!
