Is there any governing body I can write to in order to file an official complaint with Verizon DSL. I ask because it seems that Verizon DSL has terrible internet and customer service. It took one month before they could actually give me functional internet. I have my business and my first month of internet service consisted of dropped internet connection while in online web meetings with potential clients. The internet was shutting down many times per day stopping me from working because I depend heavily on the internet. Please let me know if there is anyone beyond Verizon I can send my following complaint below to. If you have any other advice, please feel free to let me know.Thanks.

My complaint (you don’t have to read it all but it’s horrible):
I recently moved in January from Costa Mesa, CA to West Covina, CA. I had to change my DSL provider from AT&T to Verizon. I was told by an automated voicemail message that my DSL would be activated on Tuesday January 12, 2010.

So I was looking forward to have internet as I have my own business (Drakenology Inc.) that does web page development work and heavily depends on using the internet to send customers email and to talk to my customers over the web cam in meetings. So on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, I hooked up my DSL. And I have done this plenty of times as I was an AT&T DSL customer for 4 and half years. So the internet did not work even though Verizon said my DSL was not activated. So I just decided to wait until the next day.

So I waited until the next day Wednesday, January 13, 2010 until 2pm. I restarted my modem and my computer and made sure the modem was on and it was directly connected to the phone line. It still did not work. So I called tech support. They did everything in their power to fix it as I was on the phone getting direction from them for more than three hours. After three hours they decided to actually bring a tech service man to come to my house to fix my DSL internet. They scheduled the appointment for the tech service man to come to my house on Monday, January 18, 2010. First of all I was unhappy that my internet did not work as I had to do work for my home business. And secondly I was unhappy that I had to wait 6 days for someone to come fix my DSL internet. I was losing 6 days of productivity in my business. This was ridiculous.

So after six days of no internet the tech service man finally shows up on Monday morning around 9am on January 18, 2010. He turned on my computer and saw that the internet was not working. He then told me the action tek modem I had was not compatible with Verizon DSL. I told him I used the same modem for AT&T DSL and it worked fine. I then later told him the modem was a year old and I bought this modem myself and it was not an approved AT&T modem. He just kept on telling me I needed a new modem. He recommended two modems to me which was the westtell and another type of action tek. So I went to best buy and bought the action tek. After a couple hours of troubleshooting it did not work. And then I was getting even more upset since this Verizon DSL Tech told me to buy this modem. He told me it would work and it did not. So I was wasting my time and my money on a non functional modem he had told me to get. So I went out on my own and bought another modem. I bought a modem that the tech service man did not recommend. So I set up my internet and the generic modem (model name zoom ADSL X6) started to work properly and now my internet was working.

I then called Verizon to voice my unhappiness and told them that I did not want to get billed for internet starting on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 because I did not have functional DSL internet until Tuesday, January 19, 2010. This was one week late! This cost me time and money for my business. So the supervisor was nice and said a few things to me: She said that the tech service man did not follow standard procedure in diagnosing my problem. The tech service man should have brought a modem with him to check the internet problem. Then she gave me a 25 dollar credit to my account. But I was really angered when she told me that your own Verizon tech person did not follow standard Verizon procedure and bring a modem with him to check my internet properly. He just looked at my modem and told me to buy an approved modem which ended up not working. He could have saved me time and money if he brought his approved modem to really check out my internet the right way. I had to go out of my way and get a modem he approved that didn’t even work.

So I started using my DSL internet with the generic modem of my choice (model name zoom ADSL X6) and it worked, but I came to realize that the internet speed was so very slow. I went online to run a speed test. I remember that my previous service provider of AT&T was many times faster. So after a couple weeks I finally decided to call Verizon. It took me so long time because I was wishing that the problem would resolve itse

I have a girlfriend and her daughter is pregnant out of wedlock. She dated the same man for about a year, split with him briefly, and slept with a random guy once (unprotected sex). Now, 5 weeks later, she’s back with the boyfriend and pregnant. Boyfriend doesn’t know about the one nighter which happened around the estimated contriception date the doctor gave her. Should I advise the boyfriend that he may want to get a paternity test prior to allowing his name to be put on the birth certificate (he’ll be paying child support for 18 years if his name is on the document, regardless of DNA tests later). Or, would you just let that happen and figure it’s none of your business? The Boyfriend and my girlfriends daughter aren’t together again: My friend (pregnant woman’s daughter) thinks she’ll get child support out of the ex boyfriend where the one night stand won’t pay anything. Very selfish thinking. What would you do?

I have had my internet service for maybe 3 months and recently opened a bank account (month maybe). There were some unauthorized charges on my account and I got a call from the bank and I filed a claim to dispute the charges. The next day I get a police officer at my door saying someone with an email address linked to mine emailed for help or something. I told them no they have the wrong information or address. I finished all of the paperwork with the bank today and now 2 detectives come to my door saying this person is still sending emails and it is somehow connected to my isp.

The times these emails were sent I was not home and other bank transactions show that. So how is this possible?

I did some research on Evil twins which trick wireless users into connecting a laptop or PDA to a tainted hotspot by posing as a legitimate wi-fi provider. Once you connect to their wireless network, the evil twins can watch your online activities and steal your confidential information.

Is this a possible answer to what is going on?

The detective is telling me I will go to jail for filing the claim but I feel like I have no choice since they aren’t listening to me and I know I am not the one doing these things. Any advice on what could be going on?

This person or people has all together opened a pay pal account with an email, my bank account number and routing number, and address. All which are found on a voided check.

They have used this service with my name and address information to talk with this Doctor asking for help who is in turn calling the police to MY house. I am so confused!!!!

vonage is a scam?

Everything Started when I decided to switch my phone provider to Vonage in june 25. I will disclosed all the charges:
1 connection fee 9.95 – when I asked if Vonage was compatible with my internet provider clearwire they said yes. And is not true.
2. When attempted to call and cancell before it was too late they promised send a wi-fi phone no charge to give a try and promise it will work. Not true it was a lie.
3. After spending over more than two hours new device worked for one hour only.
4. call to cancell only had to call in business hours their dept. that handles cancellation was closed.
5. Got an authorized charge for aprox. $66.00. Called to disputed, no help at all. Only rudness and my call was disconnected eventually by one of vonage representatives. After spending over one hour on the phone.
6. Sent an email to their corporate offices they said they do not have any records of all they promises and said I had to pay the shipping and handling to return their device and if I wanted to close account with them had to pay $95.00 for a service I was never able to use. Plus 19.30 in shipping and handling.
7. total charges 190.25 for a service I never received and bad customer service.
This company is a scam and I think all american consumers should be aware of this.

WARNING ALOT OF READING> LEAVE NOW IF U **** READING OR IF YOU ARE LAZY AND DONT LIKE TO REaD

IS THIS ISP FAIR??

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HughesNet

http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/hughes-net-c215646.html

The Fair Access Policy (FAP)
The FAP is a policy that limits the total amount of data that can be downloaded by a user within an allotted amount of time. The most basic HughesNet plan allows users to download 200 megabytes ( This limit increases depending on which plan the subscriber is using )

Unfortunately any consumer using more than half of the amount they paid for will experience significant decrease in download speeds. A tell tale sign of this can be seen by simply performing a speed test using the HughesNet or any speed test provider, the Consumer will note decrease in download speed and a substantial increase in upload speed by as much as 300%.

. According to HughesNet, the download/upload limit is based on a virtual “bucket” containing 200MB or more dependant upon the plan, that gets used up by downloads and uploads. It is, at the same time, being refilled at a rate that is estimated to be about 18-50 kbit/s. If the user is judicious about their downloading they will never hit this limit. However, once the “bucket” is emptied, the users downloads speeds (only) are throttled back for approximately 24 hours, leaving the user with downloads speed of about 30 kbit/s for the duration. (This speed rating comes from user measurements, as HughesNet now refuses to disclose any rates after violating the FAP.) Downloads and uploads are not monitored between 2am – 7am for DW6000,DW7000, HN7000S and the recently added HN9000 [1]

(((BASICLY SAAYING))) if you want to download let say and itunes updates. i virus or email protection update usually about 160mbs big. you gotta stay up alll night even though you may have work. WOW brilliant idea :D

Satellite Internet can be more costly when compared to other forms of Internet access. For the “HughesNet Home” 1 Mbps/128 kbit/s plan described above, installation is $399.98 up front, and basic service is $59.99 monthly (as of April 2008)

((but your geting Faped)) if u get the cheapest. u only get 200mb aka crap))

THEN if u wanna quit. u have a 300 termination fee.

NICE!!!

- Whenever i try and click join or create the button goes grey and does nothing. I’ve tried going to documents and settings\user\app_data\hamachi – and deleting that folder (or even renaming it) and reinstalling. I install fine, go through the tutotrial, i can connect and have the program power on and start up,but when i click on join, put in network name and password, like the test one.

Network : test
pass : secret

I’ve never seen the inside of that. When i click join or create the button indents, and then goes grey for a split second and then does nothing.

I’ve forwarded certain ports i’ve read about through my router. I’ve followed the wiki guide and put in the default gateway for hamachi protocol/adapter 5.0.0.1

Still nothing. In the end all I want to be able to do is create or join a network, and play system shock 2. I’ve followed so many guides to this at this point im going nearly mad.

I know this problem persists for some people, but the solution is not known to most of us. Thanks in advance.
I am currently “able” to press the power button, that all seems to work well. But when i’m in there and see the screen im supposed to, I can click on join or create network, but it literally does nothign when i click on it. Just de-presses and comes back. I’m left sitting there not able to do anything really.

This seems to happen mostly on groups that I have set to receive Individual Emails. They do not go into spam, I’m not bouncing, I’m not set to no Email, but I do not receive back any of the email posts that I send out. I get everything else.

Jul 24

Now my mail keeps bouncing back to me and I cannot connect with this person. What happened and what can I do?
