My friend and I today were putting a new stereo in my car today. As we were we wanted to test to make sure it worked before we got too far along, so we tested out the stereo. It worked fine. We tried again a couple of minutes later and it worked for a split second then stopped. Not having enough time to fix it, we went back to it at night. I then noticed that my interior lights weren’t working. I tried putting in a different light bulb and it didn’t work either while my light bulb worked in my friends car.
So we figured we blew a fuse. We looked in the owners manual and found out the stereo, interior lights, trunk light, and warning beepers were all connected by the same fuse. We changed the fuse and tried everything again. Still no luck. The only thing we can think of is that we short circuited the car. Now I don’t have much money so I would like to try and avoid taking it to the shop for something I can maybe fix on my own.
If anyone has some tips or pointers, that would be great.
It’s a 1999 sunfire if that helps.
Thanks in advance.
I don’t think it’s the battery. Everything else in the car is running fine.
