OK i have a dsl speedstream modem with only 1 ethernet port, i plugged my ps3 to the DSL. my bro bought a router so we wouldnt have to keep unplugging the ethernet from my computers. My internet got a speed of about 40kbps downloading (i know this is super slow, my brother had called the at&t company to upgrade it to 6mb/ps (like 600-700 download speed) so they said we would have it in a week. the internet never got any faster so we just forgot bout it) so with 2 computers and ps3 on the router, the internet it was slow as hell. i got NAT type 3 using the Belkin N wireless router and games like gta keep disconnecting from the servers (connection to 1 or more players has been lost) and (…Router/NAT too stric) i thought it was because the internet speed was too slow so i went back to just plugging it directly to the modem. i checked in internet settings on the ps3 and got NAT Type 2. so one day the bill comes in and my brother got pissed because we had to pay 10 more dollars than before, he had just canceled some services from the phone line so he expected it to cost less, so he called at&t to ask them wat was going (not sure wat they were talking about but my bro said they restarted the line or something) after tat we had 6mb/ps internet… we were paying for 6mb/ps for a long time and only getting 40kbps download speed… damn at&t…
So now that we had faster internet i used the router again, i used wireless and got NAT Type 3 again, so i thought if i plugged it with a cable it would give me nat type 2 again. it didnt. so i went on the internet and found alot of things:
1.put my ip (192.168.0.1) in the address bar to get to my routers menu page and put the ps3 on DMZ using a static ip… didnt work, i still got nat type 3
2. enabling upnp… went on routers setup, features, UPnP, it sayed it was enabled so that wasnt it
3. port forwarding… most of the pages were it said how to do the port forwarding thing were using d-link or linksys routers, im using a belkin one so i guessed the port forwarding was the Virtual Servers under Firewall, i opened port 80 TCP, 443 TCP. ect applied it on my ps3 ip… didnt work again
4.use PPPoE in the ps3 with my username and password(im sure tat my username was an email ex: ********@sbcglobal.net… i havnt called the internet provider) so i typed that and the password but it says it timed out searching for the ip
now im pissed because everything is see in the internet doesnt work so i plugged the ps3 back to my modem and it got NAT TYPE 3!!! ***
so now i cant play online because it gets disconnected and i cant be in chats n stuff
